The verse says

I am glad to have seen what was never seen before, and my mind is shaking with fear. Show me that other form of yours, god. Have mercy, lord of gods, home of the worlds.

In plain words

Both at once, and he says so plainly.

Hṛṣito 'smi — I am delighted. Bhayena ca pravyathitaṃ mano me — and my mind is trembling with fear.

He does not resolve them. He reports both and then asks for it to stop.

Where you've felt this · in sport

You come off a roller coaster laughing and genuinely glad you did it, and your hands will not hold a cup steady for ten minutes. If somebody asked whether you enjoyed it you would say yes. If they asked whether you want to go again right now you would say absolutely not.

Going deeper

Being glad and frightened at the same time, and asking for it to end anyway, is a more honest account of an overwhelming experience than either half alone.

Arjuna does not pretend he wishes it had not happened. He says he is delighted to have seen what nobody has seen. In the same breath he says his mind is shaking and asks for the other form back. Nothing about that is contradictory, though it is often reported as though it must be.

Asking for it to stop is also not a failure of nerve. He got what he asked for, it was more than he could sustain, and he says so.

That is worth having if you ever get more of something than you can hold. Wanting it to end does not retract the wanting that got you there, and it does not mean you were not equal to it. Some things are only survivable in the quantity you can actually take.
