The verse says

No sun lights that place, no moon, no fire. Those who go there do not come back. That is my highest home.

In plain words

Three lights, all turned down.

The sun, the moon, a fire. Between them that is every light anyone had for most of human history. Krishna says none of them reaches there.

Not because the place is dark. Because every light we know is borrowed. Something is burning, or something is reflecting. What he is pointing at does not need lighting. It is where light comes from.

Where you've felt this · in health

You are walking home on an ordinary Tuesday evening. Nothing has happened. No news, no payment came through, nobody said anything kind to you. Halfway down the road you notice you feel completely fine, and you cannot find a reason for it anywhere. Most good days have a cause you can name. This one had nothing lighting it, and it was steadier than the days that did.

Going deeper

Something that is lit and something that does the lighting are not the same kind of thing, and that difference is doing all the work here.

Every light you have ever seen is an effect. A fire is wood being used up. The moon is the sun arriving late. Even the sun is burning through what it has. All of it runs out, and all of it leans on something else.

Saying that none of these reach dhāma, the home, is not a claim about brightness. It is a claim about dependence. Whatever that is, it is not the product of anything, so there is nothing to shine on it.

The everyday version is easy to test. Nearly all of your happiness is lit - it comes from something, and it goes when that thing goes. The question put to you here is whether you have ever met the other kind, even for an afternoon. Most people have. Most people file it as a good mood.
