The verse says

Keeping to himself, eating lightly, with speech and body and mind held in, always given to meditation, having taken shelter in dispassion.

In plain words

The second verse of the approach, and it is almost entirely practical.

Solitude. Light eating. Speech, body and mind reined in. Regular meditation.

These are not mystical instructions. Three of them are about how you spend an ordinary day, and the Gita puts them in the same sentence as the highest knowledge.

Where you've felt this · in health

A friend who was not sleeping tries, on somebody's advice, eating a smaller dinner and not speaking for the first hour after waking. She expected neither to matter. Within two weeks she is sleeping. No part of this was profound and she is slightly annoyed about how well it worked.

Putting diet and solitude in the same breath as the highest knowledge is not an anticlimax; it is the book being consistent.

Chapter 17 already argued that the three strands run through everything a person touches, including food, so the inner condition is not sealed off from the daily one. The items are also chosen for leverage rather than difficulty. Eating lightly, speaking less, being alone sometimes. None of them is heroic and all of them change the texture of a mind within days.

Which answers the reasonable objection that none of this is available to an ordinary person with obligations. Almost all of it is. What is not available is the hermitage, and the hermitage is not on the list.
