The verse says

Knowing me as the one who receives all offerings and practices, the great lord of all worlds, the friend of every being — he comes to peace.

In plain words

Three descriptions, and the third is the surprise.

Receiver of offerings. Lord of all worlds. And then suhṛd — good-hearted one, friend.

The chapter ends on the smallest of the three words.

Where you've felt this · in family life

A friend's mother has greeted you at the door as though you had been expected all day, every single time, for fifteen years. You have never once had to explain yourself in that house.

Going deeper

Suhṛd means good-hearted, and it is the ordinary word for a friend. Not a patron, not a protector, not a lord — those are the other two items on the list, and this one is deliberately smaller.

The order matters. Krishna has just been named as the receiver of every offering and the great lord of all worlds, which is as much distance as the sentence can generate. Then it closes the distance entirely.

And the reach of it is total: friend of all beings. Not of the devout, not of the well-behaved. It includes the people on the other side of Arjuna's field.

That is what the peace at the end is resting on. Not the lordship, which could as easily produce fear, but the friendship.

And it is the same register the chapter began the book in. At 4.3 Arjuna was called devotee and friend in one line. Five chapters in, the word comes back pointed the other way.
