श्लोक कहता है

The one who is joined, who knows how things are, thinks: I do nothing at all — while seeing, hearing, touching, smelling, eating, moving, sleeping, breathing.

सरल शब्दों में

A list of eight completely ordinary actions.

Not meditating. Not serving. Seeing, eating, walking, sleeping.

And through all of it, the thought: I am not the one doing this.

आपने इसे कहाँ महसूस किया है

You walk down a flight of stairs without once deciding to move a foot. Your knees, your balance and your eyes handle all of it between them. You arrive at the bottom having done nothing you could describe.

और गहराई में

The choice of verbs is the argument.

Krishna could have illustrated this with prayer or with battle. He picks breathing, blinking, eating and sleeping — the actions nobody experiences as decisions in the first place.

That makes the claim easier to test than it sounds. You already know what it is like for something to happen through you without you steering it. The verse is saying that this is the true description of the rest of it too, and that the sense of steering was added afterwards.

Tattva-vit — one who knows how things actually are. Not someone who believes this. Someone for whom it has stopped being a proposition.

And the honest difficulty is worth naming. Read carelessly, this verse excuses anything: I did nothing, it happened through me. The safeguard is everything around it — 5.7's mastered senses, 5.11's purification. The state is being described, not offered as a defence.
